Genre(s): , Rock - Alternative Rock, Rock - Hard Rock/Classic
The music of KEYGRIP is ROCK. Song oriented with the focus on the melody, driving guitars and beautiful harmonies. The songwriting is accessible, edgy and heartfelt. Keygrip, formed in 2000 by songwriter/guitarist Michael DiLalla with local NYC musicians Paul Garisto (Psychedelic Furs, Ryan Adams) on drums and Shane Stineford on bass. During that year they recorded demos and played throughout NYC. With the release of their self-titled E.P. in 2000, Keygrip has gained fans throughout the country and even has crossed the Atlantic spanning Europe via the Internet. Requests for their CD have come in from Germany, Canada, Russia and even as far away as New Zealand and Australia. In the U.K fans had Keygrip played on the local radio station. A Keygrip fan in Arkansas even built a fan website! These are just a few examples demonstrating the accessibility of the music Keygrip creates. In short, Keygrip’s music connects with the people. The following two years saw Keygrip with a new and improved lineup. With the addition of Jared DiLalla(Michael’s brother) on drums. Coexisting in their small but cozy one bedroom apartment in Manhattan’s Morningside Heights, more writing, demoing and even more gigs followed. They entered the studio and recorded a batch of tunes with the engineering talents of Tim Moes and Darrell Herbert (Toadies, Nile Rogers). With recording now complete, an appropriate mixing engineer was required to realize the music’s potential. Enter Indie guru John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr, Eve 6, Son Volt, etc.). With John’s vast knowledge of guitar rock, a two-day marathon mixing session ensued and the mixing was complete. February ''''05.....Mastering engineer, Fred Kavorkien (White Stripes, The Walkmen, Ryan Adams) put the finishing on the record and the result is a fine collection of songs waiting to take the listener on a journey through sound and emotion.
