Genre(s): , HipHop - Gangsta/Hardcore, HipHop - Pop/Modern, HipHop - Experimental/Alternative, RnB - Modern/Urban Contemporary
Chali G, formerly known as Bishop Adanya, is an inspirational rap phenom born and raised in Detroit. Michigan. Gifted to write, compose, arrange, produce, and perform original materials he doesn’t sample- musicality is his specialty. He was exposed to hip-hop at age 5. Having an unusual affinity for the art form, he started rapping at this age. His mother enrolled him in the Detroit Drum School at age 8. Trained on the drum set and a wide array of percussion instruments, he was taught by the late great Charley Banister and his staff for 8 years. During childhood, he played at his church, and in the Drum Corps a military style marching band. At age 12 he started producing and eventually developed into a musical force to be reckoned with. He has collaborated with Strike (Mountian Climbaz, Likkity Split in the movie 8 Mile) Swann (battle champion) and he is a founding member of the Black Lagoon (Formula 313rd, Pimp Bonez, Star). He eventually left the BL and began his own company M-Dubb Entertainment. In 2006 he released the Trutagame EP. His work has been used on MTV, Oprah, and the Discovery Channel. He believes that artists are the nerve endings of humanity. With each song being an emotion/color he paints portraits through song. “Picasso wouldn’t use one color to express ideas, he used different colors/shades to develop a masterpiece,” so in short he is very versatile. His influences include hip-hop, rap, funk, soul, old school R & B, dancehall, and booty music. His sound is a mixture between Tupac, Dre, Twista, Bone Thugz, Timbaland, and Dominoe. He has opened up for De La Soul, Hieroglyphics, and Run DMC (closely before Jam Master Jay’s untimely death). He is an artist to watch so keep your eyes open for Chali G.
